Last night, 8/2/11 Yahoo Mail suffered an email outage. As of this morning (8/3/2011), Yahoo mail site (http://mail.yahoo.com) is still down. When browsing to the yahoo mail url last night we were getting the “Yahoo Mail has been experiencing severe outage issues for the last 24-hours plus.” message. Today, it just go to a “page you requested was not found.” or “The connection was reset” page instead.
This doesn’t look good for Yahoo since they are already behind Google Gmail in users. Now with this outage, we believe more users will switch to Gmail instead. Gmail is much easier to use and faster too.

Looks like Yahoo Mail is back online
I have tested logging into their site and was able to get into my Yahoo Mail! mailbox.
I do noticed that even though I have used the HTTPS address (secure url) to login I was redirected to the HTTP (unsecure url) page. This scares me because now all my information can potentially be unprotected when transmitting between my computer and Yahoo Mail!.
