Google News readers can now gain badges depending on how many news articles they have read. There are over hundreds of badges that Google News readers can earn (e.g. Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels) ranging from different topics. Badges are private by default but can be share among your friends with the Google +1 button. Google is trying to make reading news like a game. Where the more you read, you can earn better badge levels.
